I Concur – Lucky Jack / Build Around Me

This debut single from the Leeds quartet showcases their massive potential in quite spectacular style. Intricate guitar lines, a perfect vocal delivery and some intense instrumentation ensure that both tracks on this release are of a higher quality than many bands can manage after several albums worth of material.

At times powerful and intense and at others sweeping and epic, “Lucky Jack” once again contains the trademark I Concur ‘mightily impressive ending’ (see also: “Exits Are Blockades” from their self-released EP) while “Build Around Me” matches it for quality with relative ease.

Instantly memorable tracks that linger long in the memory coupled with some explosive closing sections whilst still managing to retain an epic and majestic sound throughout equals not just one of the best bands to come out of Leeds in recent years, but one of the best new bands in the country full stop. If you only buy one record this month then make sure it is this one – this is essential listening.
